Chinese domestic hot rolled coil prices began to soften this week on slower transactions. However, the consensus in Shanghai and Guangdong’s Lecong spot markets was that HRC prices should stay mostly stable for the rest of April with little volatility. Some mill sources surveyed by Platts said domestic orders had been quite steady since late-March, and as a result their HRC ex-works prices were unlikely to fall in April or May.
