For the first time we will be co-hosting the 9th Annual Steel Markets Europe Conference with a number of supplementary events to enable participants to receive a comprehensive assessment of the state of the European steel sector. The new look format is as follows:

Platts Steel Markets Europe Conference

Course Outline

9th Annual Steel Markets Europe Conference

Thursday & Friday, May 23 & 24 - Hilton London Tower Bridge

In 2013 our flagship steel conference will once again provide a complete overview of developments in Europe’s steel industry and its markets. Participants will convene in the heart of the city of London to address those issues of interest to Europe’s steel producers, traders, distributors and end users, including supply / demand dynamics, price direction, raw material markets, regulatory considerations and credit availability.

With global steel developments continuing to have a significant impact on the European market, the conference will also look at trends within the wider intercontinental context. Conference attendees will benefit from unrivalled networking opportunities and the chance to learn how Europe’s most successful producers, stockholders, traders and end users are prospering in the face of an increasing number of domestic and international challenges.

4th Annual Green Steel Focus Day

Wednesday, May 22 – Hilton London Tower Bridge

With the cost to steelmakers of the EU’s carbon pricing scheme likely to increase drastically in the next 12 months, and similar schemes springing up in a number of other steelmaking regions, the steel industry has little time to gain a full understanding of what will change in their business and marketplace.

Platts Green Steel Focus Day will shed light on these fast approaching developments that are set to affect the entire industry. Discussions in 2013 will focus on producer responses, possible import taxes, the CO2 trading mechanisms and future carbon prices. The conference will also include an increased emphasis on the burgeoning cap-and-trade initiatives of Asia and North America.
