Past event: SBB Summer Football 2010

Steel Business Briefing's sixth annual 5-a-side summer football tournament was held last week in London’s Burton Court, Chelsea with a 12 of teams contesting the UK steel industry’s most coveted football prize.

Regular participants Balli Group, ArcelorMittal, Stemcor, Corus and stockholders JCY took part in the, as ever, keenly contested event. This year was also the first time the tournament has been played at exclusive Burton Court and all who participated had a fantstic time.

The boys from HSBC did well, reaching a hard-fought semi final which they lost 1-0 to Corus(London). The other semi final was played out between Corus (Wales) and global consultancy firm Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM) with Corus (Wales) triumphing over their opponents 1-0 in extra time to make it an all Corus final.

The final between Corus (London) and Corus (Wales) was too close to call until the boys from Wales settled proceedings with a spectacular Ronaldo-esque strike that baffled everybody including the goal scorer, running out as eventual 1-0 winners in a tense period of extra time.

There were 4 players who were tied for this years golden boot which is the first time ever.

The event was a great success, raising a lot of money. It has been given to the charity Homeless World Cup.

So thank you to everyone for participating, see you next year! SBB Football photos
