Platts FOB Black Sea Steel Billet Rationale

Tuesday, 20 October 2020

S&P Global Platts assessed CIS export billet at $410/mt FOB Black Sea on Oct. 20, unchanged on Oct. 19.

A trader reported bids from Turkey at $400-$410/mt CFR, which equated to $385-$395/mt FOB Black Sea. Two Turkish buyers did not confirm CIS billet availability at this level. A senior trader said billet prices below $410/mt FOB were not possible. Another trader cited a deal at $435/mt CFR Tunisia, which equated to $410-$415/mt FOB Black Sea. No further details were available.

The above rationale applies to the Platts daily FOB Black Sea billet assessment, with the associated market data code: STBLB00
