Course Overview

This masterclass is unique in offering the most in-depth and comprehensive overview of the entire steel market, its players and supply and demand cycles.

In-class exercises help trainees to appreciate how steel trades are conducted, including how to close a deal and open a letter of credit.

In four days, trainees will know how to:

• Recognise the production phases of steel
• Identify the semi-finished steel products and which industries they are sold to
• Understand how the upstream steel raw materials and the downstream steel finished markets work
• Use steel benchmark prices to negotiate your steel purchase price
• Make educated steel price forecasts on the basis of steel specific indicators
• Understand financial risk and hedging through specific financial tools
