SBB Training: How the Steel Market Works

SBB Training: How the Steel Market Works is over but we already have the next course in our sights. Come join SBB on 15-18 November and perfect your steel knowledge.

Course sessions will include the following and more:

  • Day 1 -- The Vocabulary of Steelmaking. How steel is made and used-- Understand the steelmaking process, from raw materials to finished products; you will master the vocabulary of steel.
  • Day 2 -- The Economics of Steel making - Steel End use. The evolution of the steel sector. Learn how the industry has evolved and consolidated. Understand where steel is traded, and how it is financed.
  • Day 3 -- Steel prices and pricing. Evolution of steel prices. Forecasting tools. Distribution and Trading. -- Understand the drivers of steel supply and demand. Learn how to forecast using quantitative and qualititative methods. Characteristics of successful steel distribution and trading.
  • Day 4 -- Steel Futures & Hedging -- Hedging through customised over-the-counter deals and through regulated metal exchanges is explained in principle and then simulated in practice.
